Step Into a World of Christmas Magic

There are some festive traditions that never lose their sparkle, and The Nutcracker is undoubtedly one of them. This Christmas, Birmingham Royal Ballet brings its spectacular production back to Birmingham Hippodrome from 20 November to 12 December 2026, inviting audiences to step into a magical world of snowflakes, toy soldiers, dancing and dreams.

Set on Christmas Eve, the story begins at Clara’s family celebration, where mysterious magician Drosselmeyer arrives bearing gifts, including a very special Nutcracker doll. When the household falls asleep, Clara creeps downstairs, and suddenly the ordinary becomes extraordinary. As the clock strikes midnight, the Christmas tree grows to enormous proportions, toy soldiers spring to life and Clara finds herself caught up in a dramatic battle with the fearsome Rat King.
